Claudia Madrazo
Claudia Madrazo believes awareness of the natural and social environment as fundamental for personal and collective transformation. She is the founder of several organizations and initiatives in the fields of Education, Art and the Conservation of Nature and Culture. Her approach manifests itself through the co-creation of spaces for transformative experiences. Claudia Madrazo is committed to conservation and sustainability issues and sits on the boards of The Nature Conservancy, the Cornell Laboratory of Ornithology, and the National Geographical Society.
Claudia has a degree in Communications and Mass Media from Universidad Iberoamericana, Mexico City and a Master’s in Museology and Semiology of Cultural Objects from Essex University in the UK.
Marilu Bosoms
Marilu is committed to generating new discourses and finding solutions to some of the world’s most complex challenges by combining key ecological, social, economic and philosophical principles into a cohesive and comprehensive paradigm. Born in Mexico, Marilu has lived, studied and conducted research in Mexico, USA and India. Additionally, she has been involved with both non-profits and the private sector. She earned her B.A. in Sustainable Development from Davidson College where she focused especially on the links and synergies between conservation and development.
The Kanan Kay Alliance is multi-sectoral initiative that has worked since 2010 to achieve the common goal of establishing an effective network of fish refuges to protect 20% of Quintana Roo’s territorial seas that will allow recovery of small-scale fisheries. As a backbone platform, the Alliance brings together more than 40 members fishing cooperatives, non-governmental organizations, research institutions, private sector and government.
